Tracking Skill

Here's an idea, how about a tracking skill to use out in the wild? Would deplete focus with each use and you would get something like this ranging on how skilled you are.

'track' 'a twig has been broken'

-and as it goes up...

'track' 'a twig has been recently broken underfoot, something passed by here'

and 'a twig has been recently broken and you can see the faint imprint of steps headed west'

As for doing it in a city, which would be pointless...

'track' 'you see a fresh set of foot prints... your own'

Alright, now it's you guys turn. Let's see what you think and maybe staff will look into it. :D

To make this skill a reality, I think we should take a few cues from the best tracker of all time...

Aragorn, son of Arathorn. =D

He tracked a -whole- herd of Orcs! Now, obviously, this would be at the higher end of the skill (like anyone really gets to 'grand master' anyways), but it'd be great if you got a rough indication of just what passed there, and how heavy the thing was. Footprint shape (humanoid, deer, lupine, bear, bovine, ect) could also be added in.

I do like this skill. However, why have it? Why would anyone need to track an animal using this skill when you can plod around in the forests and plains and probably find the animal? Of course, you could use it to track players, but that would not only be something I think might be reserved for higher ranks in the skill, but something that would also take from one of the Wolfkin's abilities.

My thoughts - a good suggestion, Embracing.

As Carmine said on the OOC channel yesterday, with our code this skill just isn't viable. There are too many variables that come into play. It's not an option, unfortunately.

Wolfkin can track through scent. Beyond that, we just ask players to use RP to do so. If a hunter is tracking a deer, they can see it on scan. RP tracking it. Same with people. If you have to track a person you can't see, find a wolfkin to help you.

Yeah, TL, a couple people and I were talking about that the other day. We decided that someone with a high perception could easily RP it out and the such. Well, you could rp it out even with low PER, either way it would work. :)
