Harvesting
Currently four different types of harvesting skills exist in game: Fishing, Gathering, Mining, and Wood Chopping. All harvesting skills are cost work time to use. Your work time is replenished once per day.
Fishing
In order to fish with any success you will need the fishing skill, a fishing pole (can be made by a carpenter) and some sort of bait (can be gathered). You can fish in both fresh and salt water, each producing a different selection of fish.
To begin, you will need to hold the fishing pole and bait your hook using the baithook command. The syntax is: baithook . For example: baithook grub Following that, you can castout if you are in a room with fresh or salt water and then you will need to wait until you catch something. The greater your skill, the sooner you are likely to get a fish on the line. Certain bait types increase the chances of catching something considerably.
Once you have a fish on the end of the line, you can use the reelin command to land your catch.
Gathering
Perhaps initially the easiest of the skills to learn, requiring no tools and able to be done in a wide range of areas. Different regions yielding different produce. Some items are easier to gather than others, and how long it takes to find something is dependant on the level of skill and perception of the gatherer.
Mining
In order to mine, you will require a pick and be in an area suitable to be mined in. It may take some trial and error and speaking in character to other similarily skilled players to find places which produce the ores you require. Some ores are easier to find than others, with skill having an impact on what range of metals you can find. The higher your skill, and the greater your strength, the quicker the success.
Wood Chopping
As one might guess, wood chopping requires an axe to be held. You must be in a forest to use this skill and your chance of success is dependant upon your skill. Likewise the quality and type of wood you yield.
